I was driving through Philly with a bunch of friends (although my friend Torey is the only one I remember) on our way home to NYC. As we approached the freeway it was apparent that something was wrong. All of the lanes were at a standstill and everyone was in a big rush to leave the city.
For some reason we were apprehended by police and forced to stay in this hotel that was also acting as a hospital. As we walked the halls to our room we passed by people with deformed skin and expressionless faces, and we all wondered what was going on. When we got to our rooms we all crawled into bed but none of us could sleep, and as we all came to the conclusion that we were being quarantined we started to devise a plan to escape. I turned on the television to see if I could get some information but the stations were all knocked out, and outside of our window was a view of the freeways filled with empty, motionless cars, their turn signals blinking like UFOs.
We were all starting to gather our stuff when suddenly two women entered the room from a side door that was originally used as an adjoining hotel room. They were dressed as nurses and had tried to calm us down with their warm, reassuring smiles, but we all knew better. We demanded information and refused their services, and when they realized their tactics were futile they called in some men who had a much different approach. They walked up to Torey and the other male who we were with and began twisting their nipples and skin in an attempt to show them what it feels like to be bitten by whatever it was that was out there.
They screamed in pain and I just backed away hoping they would wear themselves out before they got to me.
The scene switched to the next day, where everyone staying at the hospital was gathered together in an outside area nearby. We waited until everyone was distracted before slipping one by one into the stream that ran alongside the property. We had escaped, and as we drifted away from the guards and the deformed captives we were still no closer to figuring out where we were going or what it was that roamed the city, biting people and filling them with fear and disease.
