The dream started off with an old couple who wanted dinner reservations but they didn't know what they wanted to eat. Eventually I became impatient and told them I would make them a reservation at a seafood spot called Marea (which does exist!) and sent them over there before I even made the reservation.

Afterwards I was in the locker room changing out of my work clothes and a few guys from my high school were there. One of them was talking about the upcoming reunion and he mentioned that Kasia should come, and I said "That's what's so creepy about Facebook- everyone knows my wife without ever having met her."

From there I wandered out of the city and found myself back in a small town which I assume was Appleton. I somehow wandered into the front yard of my ex-girlfriend Emily where she was lying in a lawn chair sunbathing in a black bikini. I laid on the grass about 50 feet away and a few minutes later she stood up and slowly took off her bikini before sitting back down in the chair. You could tell that she was a bit insecure about it but the fact that she was actually doing it still impressed me. I recall thinking "Wow, I forgot how awkwardly small her breasts were."

She soon noticed that there was a couple on the roof of the apartment complex high above her and she quickly scrambled to put her suit back on, trying hard not to make it obvious that it was because of them. I just smiled, in love with the fact that some things never change.

Emily’s little 10 year old sister showed up (which is strange because she doesn't have a younger sister) and we laid in the yard in silence just absorbing each others' presence. There was also a dog there and I was letting it bite my thumb because I knew my thumb was too strong for him to injure me. I also knew how much I hated dogs but the situation was so ridiculous that I said "hell, why not?"

Later I was at a gas station near her house getting a bag of chips and something to drink. I had grabbed a bottle of sparkling water and as I walked up the aisle I was opening it slowly to let the pressure out so it wouldn't explode after I bought it. When I handed it over to the clerk he said "$6.13" and I said "WHAT?! There is no way I'm paying six dollars for water in this city!" but I was so thirsty that I decided to buy it anyways.

When I handed him a $10 bill he asked if I had anything smaller and I assured him it was the smallest bill I had. He said he didn't have enough change so I set the water and chips down and left the store, a bit happy that I had an excuse to not purchase it after all.

As I left the building and headed back to Emily's I noticed her and her mom pulling up to the station in a car. I put my hands in my pockets and kept walking, pretending that I didn't notice them but trying hard to look pensive and mature, hoping they had noticed me.

I also recall wishing that my hair was longer, because the moment called for long, rebellious hair.

I walked through the yards somehow knowing that Emily and her mother had already discussed whether or not we would get back together now that I was back home and we were spending so much time together.

What interested me about it was the fact that I didn't even know the answer to that myself. Something told me that the ball was in my court, and I didn't like having to make that decision. I also spent the entire dream wondering what had happened to Kasia and I couldn't remember what drove us apart and what drove me to return to Wisconsin. And it creeped me out to no end knowing that after all we had been through;after all of the marriages and babies and living halfway around the world from one another, that somehow fate had proven what we had thought all those years ago- that we were supposed to be together.
