The first thing I remember is waking up in my old room in the basement of my parents' house and going upstairs into the kitchen where my mom had just bought a huge of coffee similar to the Dunkin' Doughnuts"coffee to go" boxes. It looked so refreshing, and I ended up drinking a huge cup of that delicious coffee knowing full well that I would get the jitters but it was worth every drop.
Afterwards as I was sitting on the couch watching TV there was a knock on the door, and when I got up to see who it was I was a bit surprised to see Sharon Osbourne standing there. She had come to visit mom and they stood in the kitchen laughing like old friends while I stood there trying not to bother them.
At one point she came over by me and tried to make some small talk and I told her how I felt all “tweaky”from the coffee since I don't normally drink it. She started to explain how she "heard my guitar parts" and reassured me that she's still going to use them on something for Ozzy, but just not on "the original plan." Even though I had no idea what she was talking about I knew it was because she didn't think I was good enough for the other part.
Later that day Ozzy, Sharon and their daughter (who was not actually their daughter; instead it was the girl who was on the "Lost" tour with us in Hawaii) came to visit but they arrived as a shooting star, and I could picture Sharon saying "Ohhhh yes! A shooting star! That's a perfect way to arrive!"
Afterwards I ended up taking a ride with them through the backyards of my old neighborhood as a train ran alongside us. Ozzy was driving, Sharon was in the passenger seat, and my old friend Chad H. was in the backseat with the "Lost" daughter while I sat all the way in the back on top of the spare tire. When we arrived to their house there was a documentary on TV about people who go off and become successful all on their own and they showed my friend Michael's house (who recently moved to Hawaii) with the host saying "Coming up: Both part one and two of Michael B. and his amazing success" and I was so happy for him as that taping must have been the point when he knew he had made the right decision to move to Hawaii.
There was also a documentary on Ozzy's band and they were showing some really great Randy Rhoads footage of him playing 'Crazy Train' with an acoustic guitar on stage as a joke, and I thought it was so cool. Kasia was there for this part and I remember telling her "See that guy? That was at one time the best guitarist in the world." The footage was taken from a fan from the balcony (even though it was an outdoor show) and I thought it was strange that the quality was so good for a bootleg recorded in the 80's.
Afterwards we took another car ride and Sharon and Ozzy were discussing old band members, and somehow it came up that I knew one of them. I started to explain that I used to play guitar with him and my old bandmate named John M. I looked over at Chad and we laughed because I had forgotten that he knew John as well.
As we were talking about this you could hear Ozzy mumbling about something up front. He was pissed about something and had decided to veer off and jump the bridge we were driving on. The car turned sideways and in slow motion we ended up slamming into the river below as the car fell back on all fours. Somehow the water subsided and we were back on the street and I was directing him on where to go so we could get onto the back roads and avoid any police cars that may have gotten a call about a crazy idiot driving off of a bridge.
As we sped around trying to get back home Chad and I sat in the backseat talking about our old band and I told him how much I missed being in a band.We finally made it back to the Osbourne home and a cop that was following us ended up living across the street so everyone was quite relieved.
Before I went inside I noticed there were a few kittens in the back of the car and Sharon watched as I carefully picked one of them up and held onto him so he wouldn’t get in the way when I slammed the car door.
(I really have not seen or heard anything on Ozzy in months so I have no idea where all of this came from.)
