I was in a high school or college class and we were just about to leave when it was announced that we would all be participating in a "stand-in" where you spend the entire night standing in the classroom in observance of something one of the school's teachers had done. I forget what she had accomplished, but whatever it was it was not something I was willing to stand for (literally and figuratively), so I left.
The next thing I know my mom is driving me back to the school and forcing me to participate. I was so upset that I ended up laying on the floor and sleeping while all the other students stood motionless around me. At one point I was kicked by one of them and I peeked out from under my blanket to see a man with a long, pencil-thin moustache peering down at me. "Get UP!" I just smiled and rolled over, happy to know it was bothering them.
In the morning I once again awoke from someone nudging me, but this time it was because the teacher whom we were standing for had arrived and was on her way to the classroom. I jumped up (along with the few others who had ended up on the floor, either out of protest or out of exhaustion, I couldn't tell) and recomposed myself to give the impression that I had been standing all night with the rest of the minions.
The last thing I recall was getting into a van full of girls (random friends?) outside of the school, relieved to finally be free. In the next dream I was at work, but instead of my desk being in the hotel lobby it was placed next to the checkout line at a Home Depot. There was a customer at the counter nearest me who had just ordered three large safes, and at first I was jealous because I wanted a new safe for my journals, but then I noticed that they were metal with rust spots already starting to form. I has just offered to help him take them out to his car when it occurred to me that I didn't have a shirt on. I ran back to my desk and threw on a sweatshirt hoping that I didn't get in trouble for not wearing my uniform.
When I got outside with one of the safes in hand I realized that his van was on the other side of a small stream that ran the length of the parking lot. He was wearing these sleek waterproof boots so he had no trouble going back and forth across the water, but I was not prepared so I decided to go around it. At the end of the lot there was a road, and as I approached it I noticed two people squatting down as if they were waiting a long time for a bus to come by. It was my mom's friend Paula and her oldest son Nicholas. It was so nice to see them again after all these years, and we made a bit of small talk before I went on my way, with the dream ending before I made it to the customer's car.
